Position Description
ADULT TRAINING CHAIR
Job Description:
This person is responsible for coordinating all
the adult training within the Troop. The Adult Training Chair working in
cooperation with the Scoutmaster, Charter Organization and Troop Committee will
ensure that all the training records are up-to-date. They will be responsible
for ensuring that all adults wishing to become ASMs follow the Troop’s written
policies.
The Adult Training Chair must be at least 18
years of age, be approved by the Troop's chartered
organization, and must agree to live by the Scout Oath and Law.
Job Obligations:
- Ensure troop leaders and committee members
have opportunities for training.
- Maintain an inventory of up-to-date training
materials, videotapes, and other training resources.
- Work with the district training team in
scheduling Fast Start training for all new leaders.
- Implement the Troop written policies for
becoming an Assistant Scoutmaster.
- Maintain training records for all registered
adult leaders.
- Be responsible for BSA Youth Protection
training within the troop by ensuring that all adults participating with the
Troop have up-to-date Youth Protection training
- Report to the Troop Committee at each meeting.
- Though the wearing of the Scout uniform by the
Adult Training Chair is not required, it is strongly encouraged.
- Be a good role model for the Scouts in the
troop, and live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan.
- Be a registered Adult Leader or Member of
Committee and be Youth Protection Trained.
