COMMITTEE SECRETARY

Job Description:

The Troop Secretary attends the monthly Troop Committee meetings and takes the minutes. This person also puts the minutes into a readable format and sends them to the Committee members and the Troop.

The Troop Secretary must be at least 18 years of age, be approved by the Troop's chartered organization, and must agree to live by the Scout Oath and Law.

Job Obligations:

  1. Keep minutes of meetings and send out committee meeting notices.
  2. Handle publicity.
  3. Prepare a family newsletter of troop events and activities.
  4. Conduct the troop resource survey.
  5. At each meeting, report the minutes of the previous meeting.
  6. Though the wearing of the Scout uniform by the Committee Secretary is not required, it is strongly encouraged.
  7. Be a good role model for the Scouts in the troop, and live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan.
  8. Be a registered Adult Leader or Member of Committee and be Youth Protection Trained.
