TROOP CHAPLAIN

Job Description:

The Troop Chaplin serves to meet the Spiritual needs of all the Troops members. They will coordinate any special religious events that might occur and ensure that the Troop is welcoming of members from all faiths and belief’s in accordance with BSA policies.

The Troop Chaplin must be at least 18 years of age, be approved by the Troop's chartered organization, and must agree to live by the Scout Oath and Law.

Job Obligations:

  1. Provide a spiritual tone for troop meetings and activities.
  2. Give guidance to the chaplain aide.
  3. Ensure that spiritual needs of the Scouts are met on each camp out.
  4. Promote regular participation of each member in the activities of the religious organization of his choice.
  5. When called upon and appropriate to the situation, act as the Troop's liaison to those Scouts experiencing a time of sickness or need.
  6. Encourage Boy Scouts to earn their appropriate religious emblems.
  7. Report to the troop committee at each meeting
  8. Though the wearing of the Scout uniform by the Troop Chaplin is not required, it is strongly encouraged.
  9. Be a good role model for the Scouts in the troop, and live by the Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan.
  10. Be a registered Adult Leader or Member of Committee and be Youth Protection Trained.
