All Senior Patrol Leader and Patrol Leader candidates must notify the Scoutmaster prior to the date set aside for Troop Elections.
SPL and PL candidates must be First Class or above and have attended Scoutmaster Junior Leader Training.
SPL candidates must have attended Oak Leaf Training and commit to attend Golden Acorn (if the candidate has not already attended). Also, SPL candidates must commit to be present at most Troop meetings and Campouts. The goal is for the SPL to achieve 75% participation in Troop events/functions.
SPL should be prepared to give a short speech to the Troop on how their leadership will benefit the Troop. If the SPL candidate cannot be present at the elections, he must notify the Scoutmaster and make arrangements to have another Scout represent him in the election process.
PL candidates are strongly encouraged to attend Oak Leaf Training (if the candidate has not already attended).
The Troop elects the following leadership by ballot: SPL, Troop Scribe, Troop Librarian, Troop Quartermaster, Troop Historian and Chaplain's Aid. All candidates need to notify the Scoutmaster of his first and second choice for a position in the Troop so his name can be brought forward to the Troop.
The ASPL, Order of the Arrow Representative, Troop Guides, Troop Instructors, and Den Chief are selected by the SPL based on a list of interested candidates. When there are more candidates interested than open positions, the Troop will elect those leaders by ballot. All Scouts wishing to serve in these positions need to notify the Scoutmaster of his desire to serve.
ASPL(s) are selected by SPL with council and guidance provided the Scoutmaster. Requirements for ASPL are the same as for the
SPL.
Troop Quartermaster(s), Troop Instructors and Troop Guides need be First Class or above. Oak Leaf and Train the Trainer Training is recommended
OA Representative must be in good standing with the chapter and be able to make most of the meetings.
The Patrol elects the following leadership by ballot: Patrol Leader, Patrol Scribe, Patrol Quartermaster, Patrol Grubmaster and Patrol Cheermaster. The Patrol Leader selects the APL with coaching from the Patrol
ASM.
All Scouts will be given the opportunity to hold a leadership within the Troop.
