General Advancement Procedures
  1. The boy learns and demonstrates the skill. It is then signed off and dated.
  2. After ALL requirements for that rank have been completed; the scout must get an ASM to completely test each of the skills to make sure he knows them completely. Each rank is tested as well as the previous rank.
  3. The ASM then signs off in the book with the date
  4. The scout goes to Mr Hanks for a Scout Master Conference. Mr Hanks is responsible for determining if the scout has scout spirit and will sign that portion of the book.
  5. Once Scout Master Conference is completed, the book is given to advancement to record and print the paperwork for the board of review.
  6. A board of review is then scheduled for the next regular meeting
  7. Each board will consist of a minimum of 3 adults and not more than 6 adults.
  8. The scout must be in proper uniform before entering the board or he will not be allowed to continue with the board. He will be asked to make another board date.
  9. The scout may be asked to recite the Scout Law and Promise, the Outdoor code, scout sign, scout salute, scout handshake, scout slogan, scout motto. If he cannot do this, he will not complete the board and will be asked to make another board date.
  10. The rest of the board of review will not be testing skills, but questions relating to his scouting experience and possible future goals.
  11. The scout must be willing to answer questions to be best of his ability.
  12. Once the board as completed questioning the scout, the scout is sent out of the room for the board to discuss whether the scout has passed or not. He is then called back into the room and either congratulated on passing the board.
  13. The scout receives 1 copy of the signed board paperwork for his files and 1 copy goes to advancement to purchase the rank badge.

The rank badge will be presented at the next regular meeting.
